Weather Forecast for El Paso, Texas

El Paso, Texas is in the middle of the North American continent, located almost exactly half way between the Pacific Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico in the Atlantic Ocean. The longitude is approximately 106 degrees W. The latitude is about 32 degrees North. This is roughly the same distance north of the equator as the Saharan Desert, Libya, Saudi Arabia, or Marrakech, Morocco.

El Paso is located in the very arid, high Chihuahuan desert at an altitude of 4,000 ft (1,219 meters) above mean sea level. Even at this high an elevation the temperature can get quite hot during the summer.

This morning I looked at the weather forecast for El Paso, Texas. For the next several days the daytime high temperature is forecast to reach 106 degrees F (41 degrees C).

The humidity is generally lower in the arid desert than in many other places, but by July the humidity and clouds have begun to arrive from the southwest in the direction of the Gulf of California. Regionally the weather forecasters call this the Monsoon Season. The annual rainfall peaks during this time of year, but at most the total rainfall is still low enough that the area near El Paso, Texas is very parched.
