Pre Electric Lighting in Europe

In Tongern, Belgium today I found several interesting lamps. If you click on these pictures they will enlarge.




One is a really well preserved carbide bicycle lamp. The red and green glasses on the sides are intact, and it even still has a little bit of calcium carbide in it.

I also found a really interesting, kind of tall brass Charles Pigeon lamp. Apparently this is called a lampe cloche a pied. I don't know what that means, but for sure these are pretty rare.
