Jubel Park Brussels, Belgium

-
-
At the end of the 19th Century Belgium was at the peak of its economic and industrial development. The king at the time, Leopold II, decided to give the country a face lift by building a beautiful park in the center of Brussels.

This is the same king who along with a couple of other investors privately owned the Belgian Congo. The country of Belgium didn't own it, these businessmen did, including the king. And they did absolutely terrible things to the local inhabitants just to get richer.

The picture at the right is the Cinquantenaire arches. Clik on it and it will enlarge. The arches are located between two very large buildings. In this picture on the right is the building containing the Royal Museum of Art. This museum also has a really fantastic collection of archaeology from the Egyptians to the Greeks and Romans. In the same building on the right is the famous Autoword collection of cars.

-
To the left is another large building which houses the Royal Military Musuem. It has everything from a great collection of pre WWI swords and uniforms, to WWII tanks.
-
The same building also houses a really good aviation museum complete with fighter jets, a P51 Mustang, WWI biplanes, etc.
