Fuel Economy
For a few miles it is not difficult to make almost any vehicle get good fuel economy. Over inflate the tires, and drive slowly downhill with a tail wind.
But when one looks at the average fuel economy over a full tank of gasoline, inevitably you have gotten stuck in traffic, the stop lights were not cooperating at times, etc. An even better view of one's true fuel economy is the average achieved over several consecutive tanks of gasoline. This averages out good and bad conditions, city and highway driving, downhill-uphill, etc.
For the last 1,401.1 miles my third generation Toyota Prius has achieved an average fuel consumption of 60.6 miles per gallon. Goodness, that is about what I get with my 250cc Honda scooter!
