Apple iPad

The new Apple iPad continues a long tradition of refusing to accept widely accepted concepts allowing the consumers choice. Instead they ram Apple only formats and concepts down people's throats, all because of a desire for higher corporate profits and monopoly control.

For example, the new iPad can only be used on AT&T's network. I happen to have both of my cell phones on AT&T, but since they are unlocked and have a user changeable SIM card, if I wanted I could drive over to the T-Mobile store and in a few minutes they would be working on their network. Monopoly control by Apple and AT&T.

The new Apple iPad is rather expensive (read seriously overpriced) when it is compared with a good Acer netbook, so what does the buyer get for all that additional money? The screen is smaller. The iPad, unlike virtually all of the cheapest new cell phones or laptops, does not have a camera or a GPS. It doesn't have USB ports or an SD card slot. In looking at the specifications I can't see that the user has the possibility of changing the battery when this one gives out. The iPad doesn't output HDMI or high-res video, and it doesn't even provide Flash support!

If the iPad were half the price it might be a reasonable toy to own, but at Apple's inflated monopoly price it does not appear to be anything that someone with much intelligence or tech savvy would buy.
