Why Has Obama's Approval Sunk So Much?

He made a big mistake by not openly and aggressively blaming the recession, unemployment, and foreclosures on Bush, Republican greed, and their dishonesty. So what has happened is that these massive economic problems, which were brought on by the Republican obsession with deregulation, have now all gotten squarely blamed on Obama.

Obama surrounded himself with greedy Wall Street economists, and stopped listening to sensible progressive economists such as the Nobel Prize winner Paul Krugman.

Barack Obama totally kissed-off (and pissed-off) progressives, liberals, and well educated older folks. He said he would end the wars; instead he significantly increased troop levels. During the campaign for President he said he supported the single payer health care system; he quickly went back on this, then soon after went back on support for the much weaker government option, then even caved in on the almost worthless social security buy in.

Instead of helping to pay for the wars and health care improvements by increasing taxes on super wealthy people making more than $1 million per year, President Obama supported increasing taxes on hourly working people.

President Obama had the absolute, very most liberal voting record of anybody in the U.S. Senate. So it was not unreasonable for voters to assume that this was the real Barack Obama, and these were the ideas he would work for as President. He billed himself as a “community organizer.” Nobody really knew what this meant, but the implication was certainly someone who was not afraid to take on the rich and powerful in support of the common man.

Barack, the progressives and liberals got you elected with a landslide. There was an absolute iron clad guarantee from the beginning that the right wingers, the Republicans, and the ignorant racists would hate you. Because you sold out your main body of support, now no one sees you as a person with strongly held principles or as a man who has much strength of character.

You don't seem to have any back-bone boy. I suppose it is a product of a dark skinned, one-half African kid being raised by a white, single mother. You have successfully led your life so far by avoiding confrontation. This was your way of beating the racists. Well, your tactics didn't work out this time. The white liberals, the well educated people, and the progressives who elected you were all depending on you to take on the big banks, capitalists, liars, racists, drug companies, and health insurance companies.

But it turns out that you just don't have enough balls Barack. As you told Jim Lehrer and the American people on PBS, banging heads together is “not your style.” I describe it differently: weak and ineffective. Jimmy Carter seems like a warrior compared with you Barack.

Now Obama and Tiger Woods are both being painted with the same brush. Guys who pretended to be something they were not. How terribly sad for the country. And sad for all the people who no longer are homeowners because of fraudulent lenders, people who used to have good jobs but are now out of work, and all the millions who are still excluded from the health care system. Sad for all the volunteer soldiers whose lives have been ruined too.

You are a real piece of work President Obama.
