Today’s papers say that the H1N1 flu virus that so many have been worried about has now killed 2,837 people since it has been identified, but that it has not mutated.
During this same period far more people have died of malaria, tuberculosis, and starvation. But since these are largely diseases of poor people with dark skin, the more wealthy societies and people generally are not as concerned about them.
On a lighter note, a friend of mine who is living in Venice, Italy sent this self portrait which supposedly was taken after receiving his H1N1 flu shot.
