Juarez, Mexico

During the month of July 2009 there were 248 killings in Juarez. I live in the suburbs of El Paso, Texas about 5-1/2 miles from the border with Mexico.

The drug wars in the corrupt, failed state of Mexico have now earned Juarez the distinction of being able to call itself the most dangerous place in the world not in a state of war.

Last year as of this time there had been 688 killings since the beginning of January. This year the number so far is 1,168 people brutally murdered.

This is where societally tolerated government corruption and bribery inevitably end up. In the USA the elected officials prefer to use words like “campaign contributions” but everyone knows that accepting these large so-called “donations” really translates to nothing less than deeply ingrained corruption and bribery. Votes bought.
