Juarez Violence

I read in The El Paso Times that the death toll in Juarez, Mexico from the drug violence has already passed 1,000 for the year as of July 12, 2009.

It is worth noting that last year this phenomenal number of 1,000 deaths from the drug violence did not occur until September 25, 2008.

The Mexican culture and government has long had a contempt for true social justice and the concept of rule-of-law. This is especially ironic since Mexico was ruled by the PRI, or the party of “institutionalized revolution” for so many years. So much for nice sounding but dishonest labels.

When genuine rule-of-law is disregarded long enough, societal chaos like this is the inevitable result.
