Juarez Prison Riot

I am pretty plugged in to what is happening in Juarez, Mexico which is about 10 miles south of where I am now.
-
But just to show how international everything has become, I found out about the riots at the prison there yesterday evening watching BBC news on TV. And this morning here is what radio Netherlands has to say about it:

* Mexican prison uprising costs 20 lives

A prison uprising in the north Mexican city of Ciudad Juarez has cost the lives of at least 20 inmates. The authorities say the rioting was sparked by fighting between rival gangs. Red Cross officials say two of the dead were federal police officers. Hundreds of troops as well as local and federal police officers were sent to the high security prison to restore order. This week, the Mexican authorities sent an additional 1,500 troops to Ciudad Juarez as part of President Felipe Calderon's war on drugs.
