I remember the Nash Rambler and the Studebaker. International Harvester made fairly popular carryalls and pickup trucks.
I don’t remember the Hudson but it was still in production when I was a little boy. MG’s were cute and both Triumph cars and motorcycles were exciting.
Things change. Times change.
The grotesquely heavy, poor fuel economy cars that General Motors can make profitably are clearly anachronisms. In the 21st century, with all the problems the world has with air pollution, global warming, holes in the ozone layer, and declining supplies of fossil fuels, continuing to manufacture these vehicles is socially irresponsible.
It is like putting an 8 track tape player in your car. Buying a new one in 2008/2009 would be ridiculous.

Same with Detroit’s SUVs and V8 pickup trucks.
