Obama Fund Raising

-
I read an article today in the Washington Post which says that fund raising for Obama has begun slowing down. This comes as no surprise to me.
-
The following is an e-mail that I sent to the Obama campaign today:
-
-
Gentlemen,

I worked for Obama in the primary campaign. I had a sign in my front yard, I worked the polls, and I made a substantial cash donation to the local Obama office.

It is important that the fund raisers for Obama realize that there are many of Obama's supporters who remember both President and Senator Clinton's dishonest and hateful tactics before she lost in the primary.

I suspect there are many people like myself who have no intention of giving any more money to the Obama campaign if some of it is going to go to these rude and deceitful Clintons.

Obama supporters are suddenly being treated like cattle. Do not make the mistake of thinking that supporters of Barack Obama are slaves who will do anything that they are ordered by the campaign.

In your fund raising appeals you need to make certain that ALWAYS supporters are given a clear and easy way to refrain from any of their money being used to help the Clintons. Indeed your fund raising efforts should probably preclude in all cases any of this money going to the Clintons unless the supporter specifically opts in and requests that their donation go to the Clintons as well.

These two people are multi-millionaires many times over. It is their problem. They were hateful and dishonest about Obama, now they need to see what consequences this brings about.

Sincerely,

H. Paul Garland

Their response is clearly a canned response, so apparently I am not the only one who has complained:
-
-
Hi H. Paul,
-
Thank you for contacting us about Senator Clinton’s campaign debt. Senator Clinton has spoken out enthusiastically in support of Senator Obama’s candidacy and has asked those who backed her campaign to also support his campaign in the general election. Similarly, Sen. Obama has asked some of his supporters to help Senator Clinton pay off the debt that she owes to her vendors. These are vendors such as small business that provided food for events and other services. This is part of the process of unifying the Democratic Party in advance of the general election.
-

Please note that this does not include money given to Obama for America. Obama for America is focused exclusively on electing Barack as the next President of the United States, and we’re going to need Democrats of all stripes to win. Together, we have built an unprecedented nationwide grassroots movement in under two years. We have accomplished feats that nobody thought possible a year ago, but there are tens of millions of Democrats we haven’t reached yet, so there’s a lot more work to do.
-
We will win an even greater victory in November if you continue to give generously of your time, energy and support, so we hope you’ll stay involved. Thank you again for contacting us.
-

Sincerely,
-
