A week or two ago while we were on our walk out in the desert my dog and I found what I thought was the leg of a deer. This is strange because we are a long way away from where any deer would normally be.
Today we revisited the general area. The leg now is just bone. All the meat and fur are gone. So I did a systematic search of the vicinity. Sure enough maybe 200 feet away I found the rib cage, then about 100 feet from that I found the head.

It would take a relatively large predator to take down a deer, then spread his bodily parts over several hundred feet.

And people think I'm some kind of weird right wing NRA type just because I carry a 44 magnum pistol whenever we go walking out in the desert. Honest Injun, this is all about self protection.
