Telegraphers In The Late 19th Century

-

Nowadays every 8 year old kid has his own cellphone. It is difficult to remember that this wonderful constant communication is very recent.
-
My Grandmother worked for the railroads as a telegrapher. She was in Columbus, New Mexico USA when Pancho Villla and his troops attacked from Mexico.
-
Earlier in the week the El Paso Railroad Museum asked me to come down and sit behind the desk for a few hours. So I dressed up in my overalls and brought along a good book to read. In the back they had a really nice old telegrapher's key like my Gran might have used.
